A visit to archaeological sites, museums and monuments throughout the country provides a vivid picture of the civilizations in Greece and their accomplishments in arts and technology from the Prehistoric Era to modern times. This tour will take you to the most important sites and museum of our country in Athens, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Delphi and Olympia.

Most sites in Greece involve extended walking and/or slippery surfaces.
Therefore we strongly suggest wearing comfortable sturdy shoes.
Sunscreen, hat and water are also good “travel companions”.To enter the monasteries, appropriate clothing is required. Ladies should not wear short skirts and must have long sleeves. Men are not allowed to wear shorts

Upon arrival in Athens, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure.
Morning sightseeing tour of Athens, including a visit to the awesome Acropolis, Parthenon Erechtheum, and the Acropolis Museum. Drive past the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Royal Palace, Panathenian Olympic Stadium, Temple of Zeus, and lots more. Visit the Acropolis museum. Afternoon at leisure.
Begin your 3-night/4-day bus tour of Classical Greece. Drive to the Corinth Canal (short rest stop). Continue to Epidaurus for a tour of its amazingly well preserved 2,300 years old, 14,000 seat open air theatre; renowned for its remarkable acoustics. Then Nafplio (short rest stop) and on to Mycenae, where excavations reveal impressions of the splendors so vividly reflected in the Homeric poems. Admire the Beehive Tombs, the Treasury of Atreus, Lions Gate – Europe’s oldest known monument, remains of Agamemnon’s Royal Palace, and the impressive fortifications of the Citadel. Continue with drive through Tripolis and Megalopolis to Olympia.
Morning visit to the museum and archaeological site of Olympia, where the Olympic Games were born. Learn about history of those original Olympic Games as you walk amongst the impressive ruins of the Gymnasium and the Temples of Hera and Zeus. The museum displays Praxiteles’ magnificent statue of Hermes, amongst many other priceless treasures. Afternoon drive to Delphi via the new Rion to Antirion bridge, now connecting the Peloponnese to Western Greece; widely acclaimed by engineers to be a unique technological marvel.
Morning visit to the archaeological site and museum of Delphi, located in its dramatic setting on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Delphi is friendly and awesome, “the navel of the earth” and most venerated religious site according to the ancient Greeks. The Castalia Fountain, Treasury of the Athenians and Temple of Apollo will all be seen. Afternoon drive via Amphissa, Lamia and Trikala to Kalambaka.
Morning visit to the breathtaking Meteora Monasteries perched on towering rock formations. View the unique icons and frescoes and marvel at the incredible panoramic landscape below. Afternoon return drive to Athens via Thermopylae.
Arrangements terminate with breakfast at the hotel.
